What is a Lactation Consultant?
Lactation consultants educate you about the multiple benefits of breastfeeding or pumping breast milk for your baby. They can also work with you and your baby on breastfeeding positions and proper latch technique and address any breastfeeding challenges you may face. Lactation consultants can also identify and recommend infants for revision surgery for tongue tie and lip tethers.

Leslie Penecale RN, IBCLC
As a mother of two and a nurse with over 25 years of hospital experience I am available to help you transition into motherhood and support you in breast feeding your new baby. I worked in labor and delivery for over 15 years. I have also worked visiting moms and babies at home providing post partum and lactation support. In 2017 I became certified as an IBCLC and worked as a lactation consultant at Tower Health's Reading Birth Center. In this role I also taught prenatal introductory breast feeding classes as well as continuing education for the staff at the center.
In 2019 I organized and became a facilitator of the Baby Cafe' at the Reading Birth Center to support mothers in their breastfeeding journey. This included a time and space for socialization and learning together as a community of new moms.
I love spending my career nurtuting the beginning stages of new life.
